There was a long post by David Young after the long drawn out development affair with the HTA 73 Green turbo .
He went to explain how the 68 HTA wheel didn't really do much if any better that the 5/10 bladed wheel used in the original non HTA Green turbo did .

Its history now that the 68HTA wheel and std TD05HR turbine went together to make the White - the current 68HTA White turbo .
The HTA73 Green turbo uses a different larger turbine than the Trust spec TD06SL2 from the original Green unit .

Guess time now but hey - everyone does it !

I think its accepted that you do get a certain amount of turbine lag with the HTA Green , by OE standards , and there may be a bit of a gap between say a std 9 turbo and the HTA Green that the HTA White doesn't quite cover .

If it was me trying to make the ultimate sane affordable bolt on turbo for the eternally finicky , me , I reckon I'd play around with compressor wheels and try to come up with something that works with that affordable/available TD06SL2 turbine wheel/shaft .
I personally think one of the hardest things to get right with turbos is the turbine and its housing so in this case the OE housing and SL2 turbine go together pretty easily .
I reckon if you mucked around compressor wise till you found a wheel that had a good speed/power requirement/pumping capacity match to suit that turbine and a OEish compressor housing you may be able to slow the migration to the oppositions units and possibly the HKS one on price .

I'm interested in seeing the specs on this and the performance gains that it offers. Hopefully Fp will chime in soon. Good thing I didn't order the 84mm 9 replacement cover just now, I might get a different turbo altogether now.

Anyway, seems like a lot of compressor for the 56mm turbine. But it does go along in size with the internally gated GT3071R that some people like.

Hopefully FP will get on and tell us what it will flow. It has me curious.

this is going to fall right in between the 73 and 68 currently available. key here is the cartridge drops into stock exhaust housing. so this is going to be either tweaked version of 68, or a midfly with a better flowing turbine wheel. my guess id the turbine has one less blade to make it flow the needs of a 71mm comp wheel. likely first upgrade that does everything better than both 68 and original green.

I would definitely like to know more information on this new upgrade, it might be exactly what I am looking for. I guess since its a small upgrade compared to the rest of the fp turbos it could be FP baby blue!

 

For the price, I'm betting it uses the stock turbine wheel. It's actually cheaper then the FP White which uses the stock turbine wheel.

It will be interesting to see if it surges.

 

84MM surge housing!

 

Yeah, it would be nice if they got it to not surge with the stock housing. Although, I think that 84mm cover is worth some decent HP beyond surge benefits.

 

I was looking at possibly putting the bigger comp housing on my stock turbo when I was poking around and found this. It's pretty decently priced.

I tried to call yesterday unsuccessfully. My email has not yet been returned either. I'm really interested in hearing more on this as their website gives ZERO info on exactly what this thing is or what it's capable of...
