Alignment required after clutch install?
I'm getting a new clutch installed soon and one shop told me part of the clutch installation price was a required alignment. Another shop quoted me a price and said an alignment was NOT necessary.
So which is it - is an alignment really needed after installing a clutch?
Thanks

If this is for an 8/9 depending how they do the install an alignment may be needed.one set of instructions on here says you need to loosen the camber adjustments ot pop the axel out.I did not need to do this but the shop you are going to may be going by their book wich may be doing it this way.

That's interesting - I wonder why this shop told me it was required to get an alignment. When I spoke to them to get a price quote for a clutch install, they also were going to charge me $129 for an alignment.

Probably being they'll be disconnect the steering rack from the steering column. Chance of lining it back up to exactly the same spline is sometimes difficult and doing an alignment basically just an added level of confidence that the steering wheel will be straight.
Anytime I pulls a trans out, or drop a sub-frame with the steering rack for whatever reason, I do an alignment.
$129 for an alignment is A LOT!

You don't need to touch the camber bolts or drop the steering rack.
Save yourself the money and do the job without removing bolts from that.
All you gotta do is take off the bolt holding the hub onto the ball joint and pull it off to remove the axle.
As far as pulling the transmission you can put a stap around the motor and ratchet it forward to pull it.

I read that dropping the steering rack makes it a lot easier to reinstall the transmission. To avoid the alignment, you may mark somewhere on the steering to line it back up properly. Does anyone know where that mark is?
