No O2 sensor

I searched but did not find answer. I replaced my cat with a test pipe. I could not get the O2 out of the cat. I had to cut wire to 02 sensor, with the cat on the ground I was able to get enough wrench on it to remove it. Question is I have not had time to patch wires back to 02 and reinstall. I have not driven car much since but wanted to know if not having 02 is bad for afr's or anything else. Thanks

^ i got it out but didn't get a chance to put it back in. I was not sure what roll it had in engine management. So I am assuming it is completey safe to drive without it installed.
