new to SD and BOV venting and have a few Qs
Allright after basicly a complete teardown of most of my evo i inspected my bov and noticed a small hole in the diaphram in the back. so its time for a new one... now i have tried venting my bov before and hated it.. but i would like to change over to SD and from the research i have done the 50mm bov seem to be the favorit. only problem is i havent seen one that you can vent back.. here is my cars build site

I have a few other things that are not listed such as a twin clutch, all new EPM dumphousing/downpipe, short upper intercooler pipe, also EPM LICP, and a custom cold air intake box, anti roll front motor mount, and complete port and polish on hot side, intake/exhaust manifold, exhaust side of head, and downpipe.
now my questions were
1. is their a reason most people using SD also use something like the tiral 50mm bov and not re-circ? i dont really understand how u would gain any extra power by venting to the atmosphere.. besides venting quicker
2. Im not sure if you can go to big of a bov but my setup is relitivly average. are their drawbacks to having to large of a bov?
3. and finally when converting to a SD setup i was under the inpression it was so you can vent to atmaspher without looking like a diesel chiped truck
, and a little better air flow.. would i benefit from just buying a bov that can re-circ while running SD or would that just be defying the whole point of a SD setup. having a stock turbo and such.
also any extra related info would be greatly appreciated.

You go to SD if you want to get rid of the MAF, or are forced to by going front facing with the turbo.
VTA is pretty much for noise. IMO the best of both worlds is found in the link below, check it out!

i need to buy a new bov regardless, i dont think SD is that tricky ive never tried using it before but i heave read allot on it and how to do it. so i understand the basics of it. just never experienced actually driving on SD.
1) because there is no need to recirc with SD, the bov is now before the sensor and any air that is released is not calculated for fuel mixture like it is with a draw thru MAF. and the TiAL doesn't leak like a stock DV
2) No
3) correct, reasoning is in 1)

so basically their are no performance gains by re-circulating what so ever. it is only done so the afr doesn't get thrown off? I just dont want to vent but i also want to buy a bov that will give me the best performance.. period. If that bov is a vta then owell, i will suck it up lol. I was sorta under the impression that their were some performance gains behind re-circulating compared to just venting to nothing. but thank you for an answer.

and actually the trial 50mm doesn't sound all that annoying, i found a youtube vid of a evo with same exhaust mods almost and the bov is muffled out allot from the exhaust. i have the hks sssq or whatever i cant exactly remember but anyways it was annoying as hell venting and after i got my perrin intake it sounds vented anyways.. but here is the clip. kinda growing on me ha
