Tial Wastegate what spring to choose

My current set up hta 3586 on a 2.4 on e85
I have the tial 44 I am not sure which spring is in it.

my question... how do I know which spring I will need in order to run high boost, just went through my first tune with the new set up and we were having trouble getting the car to boost over 31lbs, do I need a stronger spring in the wastegate? If so which one or ones do I choose?

also what is the purpose of the wastegate? Is the main purpose to stop boost creep?

Ah the 8 hour bump.

Basically the spring will determine the lowest boost level you can run when running a boost source directly to the wastegate. If the stiffest pair of springs is used for 20 psi, then likely the lower boost levels you can run would be just over that with a direct line to the wastegate.

http://www.tialmedia.com/documents/w3_tial_44_sp.pdf

Your boost control would then bleed off pressure seen at the wastegate to raise it above that. It's possible that the signal leading to the wastegate is just too strong and the boost control can't bleed enough signal away in order to raise boost higher. You can try restricting the vacuum line coming from the boost source to see if that is the case or raise the base spring pressure so it is harder to open.

take your waste gate apart see what spring is in it (normally always a large one)

and then order a small spring accordingly

mine had a large green in it so i ordered a small blue now on wastegate press. (no controller) i boost 21psi and it holds psi ALOT better no more tapering...

OR
if your wanting to run 20+ w/out a controller just order a small blue spring and add it to whatever is in there

also 44 and 38mm tial wastegates use the same springs!!

your wastegate spring is only usually good for double its psi rate so if you have a 14psi spring usually best at controlling boost 28psi and lower.
