installed new 3 inch turbo back getting boost spikes
hey guys gals i have a ? i installed a 3inch turbo back with no cat .
befor i was getting the normal 19 max boost then tappered off .
but now after just a k&n drop in filter and the 3inch im getting 21 to 22 boost spike then it holds 18 to 19 psi to redline . and everything is stock besides 3 inch and k&n. is this a normal thing or what ?

rallyred,
Get a boost controller (manual or electronic would be ideal) to prevent the boost spike which normally happen after the cat-back or turbo back upgrade. The sole purpose of which is to keep your boost at a constant vaccum pressure. I have a Greddy Profec B which is by far one the cheapest electronic boost controller and easiest to setup and holds boost perfectly. It has high, low and a boost balance to set the responce of your turbo boost (fast, slow). Another good electronic boost controller is the TurboSmart e-Boost which is a little bit more expensive but it's got more 3 memory settings with individual balance, different boost in each gear, overboost protection and tons more and the best thing it's also an integrated boost gauge (bar, psi). You would not be dissapointed with this mod. It should be a first mod to do on any turbo car.
