Journal bearing turbo afaik need no restrictor. I searched ok here for that and came up with nothing other than filter housing feed lines being better. Eg. Dsm stuff . Sending line in with turbo today

I noticed the an 135° had burrs on the inside, maybe from crushing against steel fitting. That should be epic fail in my part..sadface..then again what did the filter do?

Whatever the verdict is will spite me, I did spend some time on how to prime, and care for new turbo lol.

I ordered -4.

I dont think the problem was the oil line, if you got the oil from the oil filter housing you had more than enough oil pressure.

Honestly I hope youre right. Package will be at fp on monday. I will post the happenings so others may learn from my experience. This isn't my first experience with premature failure, took us a month and 4 motors to figure out my dads sled was sucking the sump dry....barely. Which is what made it hard to find...

I kind of also hope I get the option for the bb upgrade. ..

heres one pic.

I had a short conversation wtih Robert @ FP today. he mentioned thatt there was material missing which caused odd load on the bearing, in turn chewing the bearing up and allowing the wheels to touch the housings. In any case, the bearing and shaft bit the dust quickly. he also contributed this to the housing being non heat treated and moving during the heat cycle. The housing was not in good condition after only one heat cycle. its a paper weight.

The 11.5 was also examined closer by him, and he said mentioned some points:

The volutes are far from equal, the housing is ductile iron and did not appear to be heat treated from the look of the housing after one heat cycle. There was material missing from the exducer area of the td05 contour which is poor craftsmanship. I purchased a kinugawa unit from ebay. overall.. fail.. im using a genuine MHI 10.5 now.. the 11.5 is risky IMHO, you may get one that works fine, but I will NOT be making that mistake twice.

Also in any case, the result is less than stellar, and my notes above are subject to technical falacies due to having to intake, and retype info I heard at noon today... disclaimer

Yes. He contributed the failure to a list of things with that particular housing. I dont want to requote everything he said, cause something will guaranteed to be missed.. but he pointed these faults witht he unitreiteration)

Ductile iron no heat treatment
Missing Material/poor contour

additionally, these were noticed

Undersized/constricted volute
Oversized wastegate passages, do not contribute to boost holding

I was pretty understanding, and I still am. I bought this housing to give feedback to the community. This is my experience, and Ive posted in numerous threads how I was preparing for it, etc, saving, building etc on and on and on.. so thats my story..
