2004 Front LSD

once the 04 RS comes... will it be possible to put the LSD in the 03 Evo, or can a front LSD be purchased else where for a 03 Evo???

the thing is... i can get an Evo now for a pretty low price... but is it worth waiting till late in 04 when the prices of the 04 Evo drop down...???

Yes you can put in the front lsd, but quaife makes a better unit anyway. Either way, unless you track your car on a regular basis, it is a waste of money.

As for waiting till late 04, by that time the 05 will be here, and you will be saying "maybe I should wait till late 05", catch my drift?

Is Quaife making one now? Last I heard, they weren't interested and Cusco was considering doing a US front LSD. For now, it looks like I'll try to get my hands on an RS front LSD.

I was under the impression they were making them on a by order basis. If you organize a group buy, I believe they will do it.

Limited Slip Differential unit , the evo has one in the rear but the front end is open diff. Alot better traction as far turning the car. With it you can plow into corners better and the diff will place power to the wheel with the better grip , help eliminate some understeer.

It's the front differential in our cars. All 03's have an open differential. This transmits the power unevenly to the wheels. An lsd has the advantage of being able to transmit power to the correct wheel when the circumstances call for it, like powering out of a corner, and lock the diff in a straight line.

EDIT: Damn, ya beat me

With the current transfer case assembly in the 2003 EVO 8, it is built by Getrag in Germany. What does this mean? No individual parts are available. MMSA only sells seals for the transfer case. The viscous coupler inside, the front diff, the ring and pinion inside... nothing is available separately.

If the RS transfer case is the same deal, the nice front LSD will also not be available. Since the RS was just introduced a month ago or so, the parts list is not available yet. We'll have to wait and see if they allow the LSD to be sold separate.

Quaife is looking into pricing for a front LSD. They will have stock EVO 8 parts in their hand later this week for evaluation. If there is enough interest, production takes about 3-4 months for a new application.

Well you would already have the Open Diff. Though the RS Evo coming out soon in the US has LSD, so there thinking about taking it from a RS and installing it into a US GSR Evo.

So 2 answer u question, no we don't have LSD yet. Just Open Dif.
