long story short: bought 2.3 stroker, needs rod change. everything else remains same. my main problem is head gasket choise, which thikness to go, as I don't know yet what compression and which pistons are in there (there would be wisecos or CP's)

so when pulling pistons out of engine, can they be identified via manufacturer's part numbers, to know what compression ratio are they ?

 

In short...yes.

In long...yes. Wiseco and CP both publish a catalog and the Wiseco's specifically say "2.3 stroker piston" in their catalog next to specific part numbers which are etched on the top of them. You may have to clean them to see it depending on the amount of carbon build up though. There is even a production date there. Keep in mind that depending on age Wiseco and other manufacturers could have revised a design in between the date the original ones were in there and the current ones which can change compression ratio and such as well
