Kill 2 birds with one stone

Hey guys upgrading the clutch on the beauty soon. I know its a long PITA job so is there anything anyone wishes they did while they were down there while the transmission was out? Thanks in advance!

Well when I had mine out I went ahead and sent my transmission to Jack's and had it rebuilt. Not sure if you are having any shifting issues, but it would be a good time to fix any of those issues.

Since you have a 9, get a new crush washer for the banjo bolt supplying acd fluid to the tcase. It will have to be disconnected best to not reuse it. Possibly get a new donut gasket for the downpipe. Some people go ahead and replace the slave cylinder on the clutch. There's that clutch fork stop some people run to think about.

If you're going to have it all apart it's a good time to do new shifter bushings and a stainless steel clutch line.

I would replace the throw out bearing if your clutch kit doesn't already come with it. If you're getting an Exedy clutch, buy STM's clutch fork stop or buy a push style. Get your trans sent out to get built if you can afford it.

Lol good post captain obvious. Those fluids have to be drained in order to do a clutch job...

The fluids don't have to be changed, do they? I've done a clutch swap shortly after doing fluids so I kept the fluid inside. I have a tranny in my garage that's still full of fluid. But yes always use a new TOB.

your going to need T case fluid since its going to leak out when you pull the axles. get a new o-ring for the tcase-trans. its a little o ring the size of a nickle.

It doesn't need to be done depending on how many miles are on the car. If the car only had 30k miles it definitely doesn't have to be done, but it would be extra insurance to have it done. Fluids? That OBVIOUSLY has to be done since it has to be drained and leaks when you pull parts off, dumb ***.

I think a Fluid Change just because it can never hurt..Plus buy's more time until you have to do another one!

I plan on doing the same thing with mine soon when i do a clutch change

Yea i was going to do fluids already since they will already be out. Why the throw out bearing though? Mine seems fine but the car is approaching 60k and i got it a month ago so I will be changing it anyway. Views on building the gears? Replacing with forged parts? Dont hear about it too much nowadays i assume Evo transmissions can take a beating. I will say i plan to launch quite a bit and from my knowledge the most stress is placed on the tranny and its gears correct? Just looking for some extra info on what I can assume will go out next and support it before it does or can. Thanks guys
