car would be mainly daily driver, and some autoX also. rmp range till around 8000. 2.3 stroker, 10.5 hotside turbo. not going for huge power levels or laggy turbo, just looking for quick spool and torquish street car, that would't be dead on higher rpms too

If you spent the money on the 2.3, why not spend the money of the valvesprings? The full Ti retainer kit from GSC is $390. The S2s and springs will compliment the build nicely.

a stock turbo wont make power to 8k. i have run s2's on a 2.3 with oem turbo/10.5 & power will fall off @ ~6k, as the turbo will simply be out of breath.
my personal experience on a 2.0L on 91oct, hks cams only, the 272's drive & idle better than the 280's. What you give up down low, you gain up top with the 280's.
who is doing the work & tuning on your car?
if it's you, then going the inexpensive route is fine, as you can buy sell as you please. lets face it, a cam swap is 2 hours from hood up to hood down & off to tuning.
but if your paying for installs & tunes, do it right the 1st time & go for s2's. it will be cheaper over the long haul.
yeah, there are other cams that make more power than the hks 272's or hks 280's, but your current turbo set-up really wont show the full benefits of the better / more expensive cams.
what work has been done to your cylinder head?

luckily I'm not paying for mechanic's job or for tuning, doing both myself.
the head is untouched as far as I know, bought the car already stroked
p.s. sent you PM, might check it
