NO 3rd or 4th gear. car will roll when pushed while in gear!

Last night i decided to drive my car. When i shifted into 4th, it felt strange. When i let the clutch out it was like being in neutral, engine reved but no go. I turned around and when i shifted into 3rd the same thing happened...no go. 1st,2nd,5th & Reverse shift fine. I can put the shifter in 4th or 3rd gear and push the car just like it were in neutral. The other gears are working and cause the engine to turn over when i push the car.

I checked the shifter cables and they are tight and not broken. The shifting arms on the tranny move just as they should but something is not attached anymore. The shifter feels very easy going into 3rd and 4th. Broke shift fork? Anyone had this issue before?

Never seen a slider break in my life. Could have just sheared the roll pin off for the shift for also.

I have seen quite a few broken sliders. but I have built 150 DSM trannies and 50 evos.

A sheared pin results in trans stuck in forth gear. broken fork usually results in the same. if fork breaks you cant get it out of last gear engaged.

I have seen the slider have a bunch of slop and it actually ***** before it gets into gear and breaks the shift fork because it was forced.

I have done atleast 100 dsm trannys myself and never seen a broken slider before. I have seen the teeth completly sheared off but never broken.

My stock tranny went over 60k with no problems. Shep tranny breaks all the time. go figure!....

First off, after i spent a crap load of $$ with shep he told me i could beat it up and it would be fine. This is the 3rd time in 6000 miles i have had to go back into this tranny so OBVIOUSLY shep is WRONG!

Second, i AM NOT sending it back to shep. He will of course try to convince me its my fault, its my clutch, ect, ect, ect as he has done to just about everyone i know that has delt with him.

I am using redline shock proof lightweight. I guess since i own a damn mitsu i gotta start rebuilding the trans myself and get good at pulling it out. Thanks for the replys guys. I got some other cars i gotta work on before mine so its gonna be a few weeks at least until i pull it out.

Sucks that you are having this problem. The EVO trans is quite easy to pull apart and fix. Good luck.

Fixing the tranny is not a problem. Getting it out is lame! I will see for sure when i get it apart. I used new roll pins when i put these new forks on. My car just hates me.
