Correct ring gap size

I'm trying to find the right formula to calculate the correct piston ring-end gap for a high powered 4G63 (approx. 1000hp).
Following the measurement chart found in the pistons' box (JE pistons), I picked the measurement for the 'blown race only' option because of my high power application which is: (bore x .0060) for the top ring.

Bore is 3.366 x .0060 = .020196

But .020 doesn't sound right, it's too big of gap for a piston ring!

Any help, tips would be appreciated

Twenty thousandths is the bare minimum. I would recommend bigger actually.

Remember, that guideline is the "minimum gap per inch of bore"
