I haven't gotten my tester yet, but I have tightened and checked or even swapped out every possible connection as a trial and error method, and no fix. I suspect the same.

Is it leaking all around or in one spot for you - RJones? Dumb question, but you are using the gasket, correct?

I am using the supplied gasket. It seemed to be leaking a lot from the top. I couldn't really see the bottom or back side.

Do you know what was done to resolve it? Tightening the TB to the IM. (I did that already and it didn't help), replacing the gasket with something else? remachining the surfaces, etc

Thanks

Take a marksalot and coat the TB flange. Bolt it to the im w/o the gasket. This will highlight all of the high spots. Use a sanding block and start with coarse Emory cloth to sand down the im flange till the most of the im flange is coated in paint. Then switch to medium then fine Do not over torque the bolts just make them snug and do not roll over the edges with the sanding block. That will cause more low spots. Find one larger than the im flange.

if doing it on the car stuff the intake with a towel and tape the opening shut from the inside the best you can.

It is best to not do it while the intake is on the car but it can be done. Use rags like he said and a shop vacuum if you have one

Had time to fix one leak at the new ETS intercooler. The fitting had to deflect enough to give the T clamp a hard time for a good round seal. Its fixed, but the pipe leading to it, needs to be 'adjusted' for a better long term fit/resolution.

Now the intake is the only whistling. I am going to do the soupy bubble test tomorrow (I ran out of time after removing the front bumper skin for the other leak) to see if I can isolate the issue, but based on my ear its the seal between the IM and TB, as noted above. I will confirm with some video tomorrow.

Once I confirm with video, I will also email MAP first. That thing wasn't cheap so we should probably give them a chance to address. Ironically that thing is the only non home baked self made hack job in my engine bay, and its the thing leaking!

Side note for info on OP. I was able to do some scaling adjustments and they had an immediate and positive impact on my high idle. Almost too much so. There is a thread for those injectors I will update, but basically I had to raise the scaling value, and I am not done yet. I only did a couple sessions.

Everything is tight except the IM to TB connection. Massive leak even at 5psi. Bolts are tight, gasket is fine, just doesn't seal. This is the MAP rev 3 with the 70mm throttle body. Have sent MAP an email also.

are you certain its the tb gasket? i know they cut the rev3 apart pretty good and weld it back together... and anytihng above 65mm they have to reshape the inside of the intake and weld more meat onto it so they can port it out more...

Well, its hard to tell from the photo. Maybe the craptacular video I shot is clearer, but yes its the top of that connection. I shoot the video after I have already tested, so you can't see the space dry first. Maybe I will take a better one later. It whistles like when you take a blade of grass between your fingers as a kid and blow real hard. Just louder. Time for ear protection louder.

That sucks!!! I'm going to do a leak test tonight on my 70mm TB. I've been feeling like I have a leak. My afr's have gone rich at WOT. My logic is when it's leaking boost the afr will go rich.

it sounds like the tb flange got warped during welding. the best bet is to remove the intake and have a machine shop surface the flange. if thats too much work, look a few posts up.

Did a boost leak test and I found a hose leaking. Fixed that and I thought I was in the clear: NOPE! It's leaking at the threads of the IM where the TB bolts into. It may be leaking at the gasket to the adapter, but it's leaking from the threads too much to confirm this. I'm trying to think what this could be. I'm guessing the TB is not seating flush and it's nearest exit is the threads. I think I used anti-seize so would a loc-tite be a good idea or is this just a band aid. I may resurface the TB. I'd never seen this before, so anyone with this experience would be great to hear what you did.

fireroasted, is this where your TB is leaking too?

Mine doesn't seem to be leaking at the threads but it leaks so massively it's tough to tell. It's mostly creating bubbles at the gasket or seem and at the very top.
