Evo Vii trany noise
Evo Vii trany noise
Just picked up an Evo Vii and she drives great! Shifts normally and everything, but there is a funny noise...
It sounds just like a lifter clicking but it only happens when:
1 - in nuetral with the clutch out
2 - in low gear and driving (may be higher gears as well but must happen so fast i cant distinguish it from normal motor sounds)
3 -in gear with the clutch in and rolling (coasting to a stop in 1st or 2nd)
when in nuetral with the clutch out (#1) the sound is RPM dependent
When in gear and coasting with the clutch in (#3) the sound is speed dependent
Some said it could be a throwout bearing but i dont think thats the case as the #3 on the list ^ doesnt seem to fit that problem.
I would hate to have my first $ for the car go to a shep trans if its not needed as the trans works great, but trans noise is never a good sign.
