Clutch recommendations for a bolt on evo?

I'll probably upgrade my clutch later on this year. I have a stock Evo 8 with a turboback exhaust, soon to be tuned to 20psi.

Looking for best bang for the buck on this very mild setup. Any clutch recommendations?

Guessing you're on stock clutch now? Is it slipping? If not, keep it. I've been at ~340whp for 2 years now, at 67k miles and the stock clutch shows no signs of giving up the fight. If you drive it properly, the stocker should last you for plenty of miles.

When I was doing research on upgrading my clutch ACT seems to be the most used for a daily driver, but a lot of people complain about high rpm issues, none of which I have encountered, mine drives just like stock!

i would probably go with one of the ACT's also if i was around stock power or maybe the Carbonetics blade clutch if it isn't too much dough.

Wow. 340hp on stock clutch. Mine's not slipping yet. I just figured that it'll give out sooner or later.

My stock clutch was slipping with 23k miles... I have an fp hta green and all other bolt ons. I put in a competition stage 2 a few weeks ago and I love it. Pull away easily and grabs hard, also went with the competition flywheel. I've had no problems with competition ever, had a 6 puck in my civic.

I also have a dozen of so launches from the drag strip on it. Plus it only my 2nd stick shift car, and my first one I had had for a year. If you don't launch it much and don't rev to 2k to get going from every light/stop sign, I don't see any reason for the stock clutch to not last. I'm upgrading to an EF2 in the coming weeks and I'll be purposefully keeping wtq at or below 350 when I retune the car to keep the stock clutch happy.

If your dd your car then even at 300++awhp a stock clutch should be fine. Unless your form of dd is launching the car all the time

If you are gonna be doing some spirited driving and beating on the car a bit then you just might want to step up a bit to something similar to a comp stage 2. On my new build Im going with the stage 2, rated at 450 ft lbs. It should hold just fine even with my ef3 and 2.3. Keep in mind Im not drag racing my evo though, just road course.

i Had ACT Xtreme, with Street disk with Fidenza Aluminum Flywheel before my Twin Plate on my 6 Speed, never had a problem, replaced it at 36.000 ish and swapped it with twin plate at 50.000 ish during the project. my boy took the ACT and still had panty of life left, (almost like new never had any problems with it, no locking out at high RPMs or goofy crap like that. pedal also feels good, no fear of huge left leg during the traffic hours

I've been doing lapping and time attack with my evo for the last 2 years as well, and I haven't had any problems with the stock clutch. You aren't launching the car on a road course, so it doesn't really take a beating. As long as it can hold the torque, it'll be fine. With the OP going for just a TBE, intake and tune, it should hold it just fine.

I dd my car but have never launched it. Stock clutch is sounding like it can hold on to my driving habits. I'll get a new clutch later down the road when the time calls for it.
