No fishing, I'm getting materials together to do some legitimate testing. Sorry, when I said a contract with WIX, I just meant to manufacture filters to AMSOIL spec.

I'm not trying to turn this into an, 'Attack AMSOIL Thread' or anything, sorry if you took it that way, Andy. I'll bow out of the thread and leave Kyoo to his discussion.

No sir you are cool. I don't think I cared either way it is a great discussion we have going so let's keep it going. I know your intention is not to attack although I am sure you would not be using AMSOIL in your cars.

I am all for testing, you are a consumer and deserve to know what is and what is not.

Simplify your choices by running the Fram Ultra XG. Thats what I run. Most of guys at Bobs TOG.com agree. Its a 15,000 miler.

^

Not in the threads I've been reading on BITOG. The only thing FRAM is better than is no filter at all.

Just looking at that image I can see it's lacking pleats, which leaves more square inches of potential oil filtration unused. From the last test I read on BITOG, PureOne seemed to win out as one of the best filters all around (AMSOIL spec filters were not tested) so far as price, media type, media filtration efficiency, flow and construction.

I haven't forgotten about this thread, I'm almost finished with my filtration testing.

Here's a teaser:

Just curiouse as to how will the test be performed , under what conditions ?
Will you base it off industry standards ?

Of course not, he's going to test it as a pool filter for removing fecal matter.

I don't have the hundreds of thousands of dollars to purchase the same equipment the ISO testing group uses.

It is a single pass simple bench test using an equal contaminant to oil ratio per filter at room temperature with gravity drawing the filtrate through the media.

This is not a test to give percent efficiency at a certain particle size.
This test is not an official SAE or ISO test that filter manufacturers use to rate their oil filters.
This is just a simple bench test to give a visual comparison of how easily contaminants passed though the media elements with the oil, and approximately how easily cold oil passed through as well.

Every effort was made to keep things even and fair within the limitations of the testing procedure. I had no favorites going into the testing. I believe the results are quite reasonably valid and seem to correlate well with the comparative filter efficiency ratings given by the manufacturers who publish these ratings.

Obviously, this test will not include the same heat and pressure as found in the 4G63 engine so you will have to take that into consideration.

I also plan on measuring the total surface area of the media as well, as part of my data gathering.
