Will there be any harm by running 100% water without Meth?

Ive just installed the AEM Water/Meth kit today and have put in some mineral water for the pump/spray test as ive not buy the Meth.

So my concern is will it be dangerous by temporary running 100% water into the engine without methanol?

Thanks

You would just be cooling the intake charge and not increasing octane levels

Water injection probably came before meth injection and technically speaking water injection is legal for SCCA solo but not methanol.

Back in 06ish when I was running meth I would use the coldest rated windshield washer fluid I could find. I think it was the -20 or -30 stuff that was like 49.9% water, 49.9% alcohol, and .2% blue dye.

If you are spraying water you want to use distilled and only spray a little. It is not compressible and to much will cause serious issues. Think about 5% fuel replacement or addition.

Make sure to use small jets as well to help fully atomize. It has more surface tension than methanol.

I would just wait for the methanol. Changing up the system and tune around would be a pain.

That makes good common sense. In actuality however, a factory ignition system will start misfiring before one can damage the engine from water vapor. This is how WRC cars generate 500+ft/lbs with a tiny turbo and 98 RON.

For example, I run straight H2O with a 15gph (M15) nozzle and 150psi Shurflow pump, which is somewhere between 1000+cc/min water above 25psi, which is 25-30% of the total fuel charge at peak hp.

Will make some pulls & check knock tmr afternoon...Hope even with water it can suppress knock.

My Meth will be deliver in a day or two...

So the water alone cools the intake charge which has been heated to v.high temps from high boost with small turbo?

Wow...that is a lot of H2O. That is the most I have ever heard of someone spraying.

I see what you are saying. I never fully thought about the water vapor preventing the ignition event before possibly causing damage.

I guess in order for it to cause an issue the pump would have to be stuck on full flow. That would cause problems no matter what your spraying.

Thank you for posting up the good info. Always nice to learn something new.

Your intake temps will need to be over 140 for it to vaporise correctly. Otherwise you will end up needing to run the AFRS fairly lean to make it work.

Dont i wish ive run water/meth much earlier...Less knock, smoother engine & better response even with just water spray at the moment.

But ive 2 problems which is my car seem slightly harder to start during cranking & the idle goes 300rpm more as my usual idle rpm is 1,000rpm but now it goes up to 1,300~1,400rpm?

1) Should i adjust on Cranking Primer - First Pulse?
2) Will it be some vacumn leak which caused the idle rpm to goes up? But boost hold great.
