you look up any video's and make sure you're doing everything properly? There's a real nice video that explains how it should be adjusted properly. Sounds like you just need to make the proper adjustment.

Interested in the video too if anyone has a link. I get lockout but I didn't adjust it after I put my new clutch in.

Make sure the clutch line is bled properly, as it can hide air easily if you took the line off. Also make sure you adjust the rod itself to control the travel of the pedal. I ran mine 'adjusted' for about a year until I finally got it correct. 1 trans rebuild later. Now it's perfect, but the rod is pretty much maxed.

I always liked this page in case functional detail helps. Make sure too that when you bleed the line you have one one pushing back against the rod of the slave cylinder so the air can't trap in the cylinder itself as the lowest or furthest point.

if its' a twin disc clutch and you A: didn't put the retainer clip properly or B: Did not put the clip at all. THen you will have the issues you described. If bleeding the system and adjusting the pedal doesn't do anything, then your clutch is not disengaging.

Now, the throw out bearing could be off too...
