Engine seize?

Engine seize?

How do you know when engine is seize? Car drove perfect to school then wouldn't start. Makes a long screeching sound coming from engine no clicking whatsoever from starter. Help plz

you sure that isnt the starter making the screeching sound? if you want a sure way to check that the engine is seized or not then turn the crank bolt

If noise sounds like a high pitched grinding your starter flywheel teeth might be sheered off. Again. as someone said, just turn the crank by hand and that will tell you if the motor is free.

With the passenger side wheel off, find a large rubber plug in the fender liner. Put the removed wheel under the car so the car can't fall on you. Pull the plug and insert a 1/2 inch drive extension into the crank bolt. But, first of all, check the oil. Usually, an engine won't seize if it contains oil.
