evo 8 engine alternative
evo 8 engine alternative
Hey guys.
After fooling around with DSM's for the past 5 years, I finally got an opportunity to purchase an evo. Problem is, it has a trashed motor, but for the price I couldnt pass it up.
The head and block are trashed. Therefore I am in need of a new engine. I have been doing some reading about alternative engines to use such as ones from an evo 5-8. My question is, if I purchase an evo 6 engine, could I just swap everything externally on the motor from my evo 8 engine and bolt it in?
The reason I am looking at the evo 6 engine is because I plan on going forged internals and the evo 6 engine is a lot cheaper than an evo 8 engine. I hate to spend the extra money on an 8 just to rip it apart and build it.
What are some hickups (if any) that I might encounter by going this route? Thanks in advance.

That it? Everything else is interchangable? Im assuming I would have to use my evo 8 cams for the CAS. Everything else wiring harness wise should work fine?

That, or if you're already going to be building the motor, do a built 64 bottom end with a kia head (I know I'm gonna get flamed) or find an evo head. Bigger combustion chambers in the kia/hyundai, so you essentially get a free port job, and everything is a bolt up application (this is going to be my exact build btw). That's just my two cents.

If shipping ain't too bad pm me on the block and crank to 01056. With the timing part of it, you use the 94 galant gs 4g64k timing belt and adjust the gears accordingly, wich isn't hard. 64's are torque monsters too. :giggitty:
