Need advise about turbo

hello! Happy new year!
Guys. need your advise about choosing turbo for evo 9. i know that we have different octanes and results are different. Our octane is bad. for example evo 9 with intake.exhaust.cams.monifold. stock turbo and good octane = 450 hp( flywheel horses)

I have manley 2.2.kelford cams. exhaust. i want to have good spool( close to stock turbo) and 500hp. what turbo should i get? stock t25 flange or what turbo kit???

FP red is no where close to stock in spool!
It would be difficult to achieve 500hp with bad octane regardless of turbo type, A GT35R should give you 500hp with 93 (98ron) octane fuel, but spool is considerably slower than stock. It's almost impossible to combine gains in both low & high ends, so, you could go for a mid-sized turbo (FP Green, GT3076, Tomei Arms....many other good choices). If you're stuck with bad octane fuel, I suggest you use a water-meth kit.

Yes the ball bearing Green, the GT 3076R is a good choice too, Garretts are very durable turbos. AEM & Aquamist make the best water-meth injection kits, I'd recommend it if you have low oct fuel.

I dont think there is going to be a turbo "close to stock spool" making 450-500 hp.

You want 500 horses at the flywheel with stock spool on pump gas? This is doable.

500 at the flywheel on pump gas with close to stock spool is possible. What intercooler do you have? How close to stock spool do you want?

fp black. Intercooler will not decrease spool but will only help once you are pushing more air through it.

You said "close to stock turbo"...

When you look at the turbine wheel of FPGreen 73 hta comparing to evo9 turbo, you just understand everything without even trying to drive that turbo. Whatever people would say, but even 73hta green on 2.3 is no way any close to stock evo9 turbo spool and LAG. I would definately not even think about black or red if you care about spool and lag.

Red feels real laggy on 2.0. I have seen a car on the dyno that made me think of it as a car of my sweetest dream... Until I drove it 10 minutes later and felt all the lag and late lazy spool. It fly at high rpm, but sucks at less than 4500.

The closest one is CBRD BBK Full ported. It will make about 480 flywheel HP on 98RON and spools 150-200rpm later than stock on 2.0 engine. You can push it up to 500 with meth or water.

All these turbos are state of the engeneering art and work perfectly, deliver best top HP. But they all suck if you love early quick peak torque of a squized out stock 9turbo and care about lag. There is no miracles. There is always Spool VS Peak HP.

PM me if you have any questions.

Ef3 or fp red. I don't know why everyone throws out the word lag. If we are talking about 450 to 500 whp. Then your gonna need a turbo that's gonna give you some top end power. Your gonna have to sacrafice some low end spool especially on a 2.0l. my suggestion for 500 who you get you a beast turbo like suggested..ported intake mani. Not some partial ported intake manifold but fully ported and tubular exhaust manifold a big intercooler. Meth for poor octane and learn to downshift lol. You won't have turbo lag then.
