GSC 0-tick lifters different length?

So I got a set of GSC zero tick lifters off of a buddy of mine for doing some work on his evo. fresh in the package and everything.

I put the bottom end together and now on to the head. When looking at the GSC compared to the stock lifter, the GSC was noticeably larger in length. Has anyone used these in their head? I'd imagine it would only increase lift but i'm not sure by how much and too much lift could be bad when it comes to tuning, right?

My stock lifters are fine but these are brand new never used so if I can use them I'd like to. Engines a 2.3 on stock compression pistons with GSC s2 cams, beehive springs and ti retainers on the head.

Thanks for any input or further guidance

Did you bleed them before comparing height?

Yes I did. maybe I didn't do it correctly or maybe didn't get all the fluid out. It's pretty easy though and I went by the manual.

I am going to call gsc though, I see a lot of people run them and are very satisfied so I'm probably just overreacting.

The length will be whatever length they adjust to in the head not the length they achieve when pushed up by the internal spring. Even Mitsu has made lifters in a couple of different lengths. Lift will be determined by the cam.

So, call GSC and ask if these are the right lifters for your engine.

Yes they are longer,i just used these recently...one of them was defective, holding the valve open no matter what...I've also noticed they are noisy, although it seems they quiet down after you put a few miles on them..If you have any issues call gsc, they are very willing to help!

Yes, they are longer. I have them in my motor, I purchased the car with them in it. I searched anout them a while ago and remember reading that they are longer than OEM.

Anyone else have issues with these?
Has me thinking maybe I should swap them out to something else before putting my head back on. In fact maybe it was lifter failure that cause my problems....

Yeah I'll try and get a picture of them compared to my oem ones. This is actually the first negative feedback i've heard about them though. I'm willing to give 'em a shot.

Thanks everyone for the input. I did end up calling GSC earlier today and they were very helpful and cleared all questions for me.

Hopefully she'll be alive before I know it. It's been way too long!

Sorry man I didn't see you replied a while ago, but they said it is completely normal for them to appear higher than the stock ones due to the fact they have stiffer springs and that's part of their manufacturing in order to alleviate all ticking. Once they're in the head and compressed then as long as you bleed them properly there will be no problem.
