genetrator brace fitment on a 4g64

Has anyone run into an issue with thr generator brace not being able to match up with the bracket mounted from the intake manifold? This is a 4g64 block w/ stock EVO 8 head

You talking about the one that attaches to the water pump? If so you don't need it.

I snapped a pic. It looks like it was supposed to bolt into the bracket as well as the water pump.

The bolt above it is where I think it went. It's just that bolt by itself right now.

It's an EVO 8 bracket.. block is a 4g64, I know there is a 6mm deck height difference, just dont know what most of you did in this situation.

I cant comment on the difference between the 4g64 and 4g63 block but I am wondering if you are using an IM heat barrier/spacer? If so that could be where your problem lies.

Don't need what, the bracket? Nothing supports the alternator otherwise.

Make sure both bolts are in, and you NEED the one that attaches to the manifold, the belt tension will apply more force to the water pump bolt than it can hold on its own. The manifold bolt backed out on mine and the water pump bolt broke as a result, I had to pull the entire timing side of the motor apart and drill the bolt out.

so because of the deck height with the 4g64 motor, i used the old intake exhaust brace but just drilled a hole which was about 3/4" inch below the old one and it fits like a peach. just like the modification to the oil dipstick tube, little bit of cutting and drilling.

You have to enlarge the hole to compensate for the extra deck height, i enlarged it on mine and then used a bolt and nut to hold it in place

mine has the AMS VSR intake and it doesn't seem to have a bolt hole anywhere on it,but it does have the dipstick tube bolt hole for that bracket and it is off a little bit.i too was curious about the VSR intake mounting to that bracket.

we also needed to use spacers/washers on the alternator and the water pump pulley to make everything line up.i too have 4g64 block with 4g63 head and parts.

That bracket goes on the upper bolt on the water pump. The bolt to the IM wont line up on 2.4.
