Dies when clutch depressed

I am having issues when I press the clutch at high speed, the car dies when I'm getting off the freeway and coast to slow down. The rpms jump around under 1K and then drop off. Any help would be good. Leavin for a road trip soon

Do you have a lightened flywheel?

One option would be adjusting the idle in your tune. My starion used to have a fidanza lightened flywheel and did the same thing. I think it was because there's no longer as much momentum/rotating mass helping to keep the motor running. I just got in the habit of "blipping" the gas when I clutched in but since the evo can be tuned you can probably fix it

Mine was doing this when coasting to a stop. With the clutch in, idle would dip well below 1k. Found and stopped a boost leak and it fixed my problem

That's exactly what mine does so ill start there. Does anybody know how to make a boost leak tester? I've seen em but I don't know what all I need.

they are easy to make and can get everything at lowes/homedepot... doesnt have to be fancy its just a coupler, valve stem, PVC cap and a clamp. Thats how I made mine and it works fine.

i had this same exact problem, however i would have the oil light flashing as it was dying. It turned out it was my oil pump failing and i toasted the bottom end in a week. I definitely wouldnt drive to much until you find out what is wrong for sure,
