Garrett V-band TwinScroll GTX35r Topmount Experiment
I was fortunate to be able to test the new Garrett V-band TwinScroll for my current GTX3576r using their largest 1.01 a/r turbine housing. Quality of this new housing is great and it is D5S Ni-Resist cast iron and the adapter flange is HK30 cast Stainless. Inlet v-band clamp as well as outlet vband clamp/flange are interchangeable with the TIAL open scroll housings.
The goal of my setup was to make a topmount setup using a "stock" type radiator, external gate, 3.5" downpipe while maintaining powersteering and AC. I started by running the first tube for placement of the turbo and then tried to figure it out from there.
I am doing some data collection for the new setup so I made provisions for pressure/EGT before and after the turbo along with installing a turbo speed sensor.

The next major task was figuring out how to run the wastegate on this setup. Special thanks to Walker at MPFAB for help and advice along with Aaron at English racing.
Can't forget merging into the 3.5" downpipe.

The setup is currently not running because I replaced the headgasket and during the process I sent the compressor housings (GTX3582r & GTX3576r) to have them machined for the turbo speed sensor. I should have the housings back by the end of the week and the car running again by the end of the weekend.
I did get a chance to make a clean pass on the street before the head gasket issue. Initial 3rd gear non optimized results showed only a ~350rpm loss in spool vs the previous Short Runner T4 TS setup using the ATP 1.06a/r turbine housing. Considering that I increased volume of the header I am pleased with the direction of this setup. It is also important to note that my AFRs at WOT went from (11.3:1-11.5:1) with the old setup to (12.0:1-12.1:1) with the new setup, which required me to add 7-8% more fuel.

A true back to back with the open scroll TiAL will be simple and finally put the argument to rest. I believe the hype but concrete results with nothing but a turbine change will be beyond reproach. It is also not an atp housing wherepeople will claim poor quality if results are less than stellar.
