CBRD new 6/6 compressor wheels vs old 5/5 wheels. Feedback?

Purchased a BBK Full 18 months ago which used the 5/5 compressor. Just took delivery of a BBK Lite, and it has a 6/6 compressor in it. Box has 'new version' written on it which I take to be a reference to the new compressors they're using. Anyone got any feedback on these wheels?

Maybe Chad will see this thread and comment. He made a reference to the knew comp design in a post about testing on the BB Full. All he said was that the improved design produced slightly more power than the "old-style" compressor. Maybe he can go into more detail.

Yeah I'd like to know more from the experts. In the past I've heard reference to 6/6 wheels being more surge prone and making less power, but I'm not a turbo engineer. The extra weight of the added blade pair concerns me but I've read too it's not weight that is the benefit of billet wheels (rather the ability to run a smaller hub/more aggressive aero).

I was just surprised when it turned up like this, because the old design is the one everyone ran and I feel like I'm a guinea pig now.

One thing you have to realize with CBRD is that they will not release anything new unless they have FULLY tested it and are FULLY satisfied. Thats why they take so longto release new turbos and such.

I wouldnt worry to much about it. Your in good hands. Although i wouldnt mind knowing more about it too

I know, Chad's always been great and the company is very upstanding - I do trust them. It's just my personality that I want to know everything beforehand.

Be good to have info on spool, transient response and power on new vs old wheels.

I wouldn't be concerned.

Heck i wanted to be a tester on his turbo's. He makes sure they are completely legit before getting them to the public. I waited for the BB-B about 9 months, bugging him every week. I even said i would take a test one.....LOL

Yeah, likewise I sorta recall reading that the hub can be CNC'd down to a lower mass on the billet wheels. I vaguely remember that detail you mention about the 5/5 vs the 6/6 configuration too. I thought that FP had gone from 6/6 to a 5/5 when they improved the 20G wheel(or was it the White Rabbit, or the OSGreen?) way back a long time ago.
