Went and got 100 oct from 76 in san jose

So last night my gas tank was almost out and I told my self, let's try mixing 100 gal and california **** water 91 oct gas. and I drove from sunnyvale to san jose almaden express way (10 miles) and got 4 gal of 100 oct and about 7.5 or gal of 100 oct from the 76 gas station there. then did normal driving for 8 miles and gunned it.. very nice gain.. no hesitations on top.. it pulls really hard.. as to before, once I get to red at 4th gear it feels like there is a point where the ecu pulls timing a little. Now, with the mix 100 oct and 91 oct it pulls hard till red.

So I guess this means after this gas tank, I need to turn down my boost (now pushing 19.5-20) Psi to something like 19-18 PSi till I get tuned.

just incase you guys are wondering.. it's $4.99 per gal (edit)

Umm...

.99 cents a gallon for 100 oct....yeah right.

It's $4.99 per gallon at the 76 off of 2nd street in Norco (So Cal) off the I15 near Riverslime.

You're right though...for us 91 oct drinkers it's a nice little kick in the pants once in a while. Just broadens the power curve up top, gives a glimpse of what the rest of the country gets to drive.

Who's worried about carbs? (I mean this in an automotive and an Adkins way)

How can it cause problems? It's unleaded gas. In fact, 76 on their website gives you mixing charts to bring your octane levels up by mixing 100 and 91. I have been mixing for a while and the car runs better up top and you can feel the difference when you don't mix and run straight 91 octane.

Hell, I didn't know I had a carburetor. Should of never bought the AEM EMS, just needed to play with a few screws on the carburetor to get her tuned properly.

Like it was posted earlier, the 100 octane is unleaded, it is fine to run in your car. The only thing the leaded fuel will do is ruin your cat, since this post was generated from CA a lot of you guys still run the stock cat or a high flow one for emissions reasons. Also, the leaded fuel will foul out your o2 sensors over time quicker than using unleaded fuel.

$4.99? man, that is expensive

Here in Vegas, we get 100 Octane at 76 for that's right.....$3.95 a gallon. Since gas is now at $2.11 per gallon for 91 , let the mixing begin. But i don't do it anymore because "I can't feel any difference between 91 and mixed". But it's stock so, no need for $30.00 fill up.
