Hardblocking and Aluminum rods

Hey guys

I am after some information about the above, I have been doing some searching and found a few threads but they where old ( i still read them )
I was also after some upto date information incase things have changed.

On the hard blocking
How many street kms can the blocks handle etc before they start to fatigue?
How dose this change going from full hardblocking compared to only 50%

When they start to fatigue what goes wrong?

What sort of temp can the car run at before it is classes as over heating after hard blocking?

Apart from running a larger oil cooler what can be done to help keep the engine temps down?

What is the cost difference in cost when building the motor as well as setting up an electronic water pump?

On the Aluminum rods

How Many kms are you guys seeing before the rods are fatigued beyond use?
How can you measure it before they break?
Is there anything that can be done to allow them to last longer?

I am thinking of building a high hp motor as I am almost finished my 2.3 fp black build.

When you hard block an engine you effectively remove all the cooling around the cylinders. You can get away with it in a drag motor because they only run a very short timebut if you were to drive.it on the street you would have no way to get excess heat out of the cylinders causing galling and eventually failure.

I don't want to argue about this, so I'll just tell you that my personal experience tells me differently. Last year my 2.3 was 3/4 hardblocked and the car ran 165 all day even in 85' weather...and this is with a half radiator.

All the heat ends up in the top 1/4 of the block. The cylinder head is where most of the cooling takes place. Now, I am running e85 which contributes to cooler temps.

Thanks for the information guys.
I know the rods have been done to death in the passed but my reading and searching couldnt find any infomation in the last couple of years.

There isn't a whole lot of information on the hard blocking its great to see some guys I respect posting with good information.

Evo dan is your car hardblocked ?

Seems fron the few threads I have been able to find plus infomation in this thread that it is very do able with care and good cooling gear, Radator and large oil cooler.

Is Anyone running the burchur racibg half with Radiator with combined oil cooler on a hard blocked motor?

Cheers Shane
