Exhaust questions

Hello all,

I have an 05 WW Evo8. Built by AMS and tuned by Sean Envy. Everything is dandy. Dyno'ed right under 500 AWHP on 25lbs after build and tune. Only problem is that it's my daily, and for those of you guys in the Northern Virginia/Maryland area (which is where my commute is) the police isn't very forgiving. Especially given that I have a straight-thru exhaust system....3" down pipe, no cat, no muffler, just a little resonator.

So then I opt'ed for something a little more "stock" so I got a magnaflow 3" muffler (Magnaflow Part #12229). Put that on, which greatly resembled stock and is MUCH quieter.

Now here's the dilemma, how much power is roughly lost through this install? And is it worth installing an electric cut-out in order to compensate for power loss? Thanks guy.

Cut-out would probably be towards the rear end of the car near the rear axel to simulate prior exhaust setup so I wouldn't need two separate tunes.

On my AMS exhaust I switched over to the Magnaflow 12259 and barely lost any power...and dramatically made the exhaust note a lot quieter...
