I think he meant they only have info for the scooby utec. I dunno about that price though. For just a couple hundred more, the AEM can do so much more. If I'm going to pay $1000 for that, I might as well just get an SAFC and MBC, they do about the same thing.

As sweet as it sounds, I believe it's just another MAF intercept device. I don't think it'll offer much more than an XEDE or E-Manage.

I'm not going to pay $1,000 for an SAFC with a few bells and whistles.

MrBonus: You are correct if it is anything like the WRX model, however it gives you full "standalone" timing control. You can dictate exactly how much timing you want to run for a given load cell. Not just "piggyback" off of the OEM map. This alieveates some of the problems with MAF intercept tuning, you dont have to worry about what it does to timing (to a certian degree).

Get a custom flash before piggy back. Otherwise get a stand alone or get nothing.

That price seems to be too high, I was expecting it to be more in the Exede price range

They killed a lot of sales by taking so long to release it. Now that there are several different reflashes, the Xede, AEM, and others available...Utec sales will probably not be as good as they would have been months ago.
It is another good option for a piggyback though. Just a little more expensive than the Xede.

Umm.. it's like 150$ more than the XEDE.

Wow......... that's a lot...... considering the we're talking 800+ already.

I believe it provides or will provide full stand alone capabilities and was built like that from day 1. I don't really know the specifics, i'm sure someone else could answer it.

People on nasioc seem to like the utec much better than xede..

hmmm i wouldn't be so quick to judge. AEM could be better. But no one has this thing yet. Turboxs has a pretty good name for itself. wait to see what there products do before judging them. The utec in my wrx has been nothing short of amazing. Just because of my expirience with the utec i'd buy the utec for evo. but we'll see what happens with other people.

Actually there are several people running the AEM and many shops also. The difference between the Xede and Utec is substantial considering they do just about the same thing. Shiv also has maps created for different levels of modification and gas levels. I would wait to see what people are saying about the UTEC, once it has been out for a while.

So given that you have UTEC experience, care to share what it's like? User friendlyness? Can a novice tune it if he has an idea of what he's doing? Things like that. What benefits does it have over the Xede, etc...

I hear the AEM has a steep learning curve attached to it. Wondering if maybe the UTEC might be the way to go for a guy who likes to butt-dyno and not spend endless hours at a shop getting dyno-tuned.
