Building Evo Transmission
Building Evo Transmission
I am getting ready to have my trans built and I wanted to hear from people results with built trans. What they modified, gearing, results, who built it.
Currently my evo 9 trans and diff has survived the punishment from 700 HP and its time to upgrade. I am thinking of going with at Jacks stage 3 with 4.11 gears, evo8 4th gear, forged output tubes, tapered roller bearings, and possibly micro polish.

i have a Evo IX, i went with a Evo 8 5 speed, with a ultimate gear set up. all stock syncros, Evo 8 final drive gearing and a Quaife Center diff to match the Quaife Front diff in my Tcase.
The Tapered bearings were a toss up to me, cause ive heard they can be a little louder,[input shaft only obviously] i went with a after market timken stock style bearing BUT i used a computer program to help me determine proper preload and the best spacer for as little to no end play as possible, and shimming for shafts [its a program from timken bearing] End play on the input shaft, or a faulty or starting to go input bearing, will make it difficult to shift into reverse and first gear, also the shaft can snap if enough power is applied.
the stock syncros are fine, stock 5 speed gears are fine.
Ive put 5k miles on mine isnce rebuild and it is Still perfect, it shifts 100 X times better then ever.
I have All the numbers posted up on this forum to build yourself a totally blueprinted trans that will handle some power. The only thing i could see Possibly breaking is the Case.
