ACT Clutch for the 4G63?

Hi,

My clutch went out on my 2005 Evo 8 MR, and my mechanic said I need a stage 2 exedy clutch kit. I said I would find it for him because he hasn't been able to track anything down so I've seen some good prices on ebay for the clutch kit, but my question is..

Will this clutch work as well?? I saw this on CL and was like I could just get it local instead of ordering it in the mail and having to wait.

Any input will help. Thanks.

That's a good deal, ask him if its a puck style or full surface, with a a full surface and xtreme pressure plate I've seen some cars have lockout from not disengaging at high Rpms which is hard on synchros/transmission.

Edit: I saw the second pic it is a full service sprung disk, it's a good clutch for holding decent power torque and still having good drivability and no chatter, but no good for shifting fast. I used to have the exact same clutch on my stock turbo Evo, it's a heavy pedal.

If you're below 500tq, Exedy HD Twin or you're wasting your money. Between my old DSM and my Evo, I've driven everything from Comp discs to ACT pucks and discs to the Exedy Twin, and I seriously will never put anything else in any car I own if the Twin is an option. Best aftermarket clutch I've ever driven.

Thanks for all the feedback, my car is completely stock so I'm sure it doesnt make over 500 TQ lol. So I guess I'll shell out the money and get the twin disk. I don't know why he has been adamant that I get the exedy stage 2 when my car is just stock and not tuned...

Anyways anyone have any suggestions on where to buy a good one? I saw this on Ebay..price is somewhat decent I guess..

The high rpm lockout is not really the clutch but you have to be very precise about the clutch pedal adjustment. I know someone on this board was doing adjustments for free for anyone with the ACT lock out issue.

I tried adjusting mine numerous times and never had much luck the exedy and comp clutches both seemed to shift better at high Rpms than the act, but I've never driven the exedy twin. My quarter master 8 leg twin shifts the best of any clutch I've driven thus far, that might be a little aggressive for a stcker though

The clutch on Craigslist is for an Eclipse, not an EVO. Totally different clutch (push not pull, etc).

I recently purchased and installed an ACT Xtreme Unsprung Street Disk and Pressure plate. I don't have any chatter or vibration issues or any high RPM lockout issues.

Is there a thread or a "how-to" link for adjusting the clutch about the lock out?
