Soooo... This Just Happened!! CAUTION!!! Carnage Inside!!

Look closely- That little black piece is a part of the block that's stuck in the radiator ninja throwing-star style!

I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Oddly enough, I was in the middle of retuning and turning the boost down when she went KABOOM! At first I thought it was just my LICP, but then smoke started pouring out along with lots of funny noises.
Anyway, I really don't know where I'm going to go from here. Right now I guess my two options are to rebuild the engine or just sell the whole car as is. So I've got lots of questions... I'll start with these:
What does it usually cost to rebuild an engine these days?
What do you think the car is worth as it sits? (It's a 2003 with 98K. Mods are in my sig. Also has a carbon fiber hood and trunk.)
Do you think the crank is still usable?
This is how she currently looks. This pic was taken just a few weeks ago. Has a Seibon CF Hood and VIS Do-Luck Style trunk

You wouldnt get much as it sits. $10-12k at most. If it was running, could barely get $15k out of it. This is coming from just 10 months ago, I was willing to pay $15k for a running Evo.
To build, $5-6k. Includes new block (used but a block with no holes). This is assuming most your parts are reusable and upgrading. Few grand less if you just want a factory rebuild. Gotta pay to play. Chances are good, your engine was already on its way out. I see you did headstuds, what about rod bolts? Boost is just part of the equation. AFRs, knock, timing could have been your culprit.
You wont know and cant guess if parts are still usable. You will need to disassemble it to find out. For all you know, the crank is jacked and your head is toast. But you wont know unless you look. Good luck.

Thanks for your response! Those numbers are in the ballpark of what I was thinking. I've always tuned my car somewhat aggressively but I still tried to keep things safe. AFRs were always 11.0-11.5 and never any knock. I actually have the log from when it blew and there was absolutely no warning sign it just went boom around 6500rpms.
Thanks bud! I need help with pretty much everything lol!! At this point I'm leaning towards just selling the car as is. I'm not really sure how I could afford to rebuild the block right now. I may have some bolt ons for sale soon though, I'll let you know.
That always sucks to see.
I was in the same situation in April. Your first thought is always, well, I will just sell it lol. Dont even wanna begin to think of the cost or labor to do it haha.
A new build will run you roughly 6k, like said above. Mainly cause you got to get a new block. Evo block core charges are insane!! Your crank can be good. I reused my crank when my motor threw a rod. I sent it off to Buschur and he had it checked, inspected and re balanced. So that can save you some money.
Remember, its always recommended to replace your oil cooler, dont want any trapped metal from the block getting caught in there, and start a new motor up with that stuff in the cooler.
I imagine, which ever cylinder let go, you could possibly have some bent valves, cracked guides as well.

2.4 is a cheaper option at this point. You can pick the engines up for 2-400$. Use the block and crank, buy some hbeams about 350 and pistons about 4-500, 03 outlander water pump for 40, and cam gears for 200 new at extremepsi or 150 used here.
Machine work be about 3-400. New oil pump about 280, headgasket is 90. Then piece together the other gaskets for about 30.
Definately eliminate the oil cooler or replace.

Thanks man! It was either the #2 or #3 cylinder that let go. Unfortunately, I'm definitely leaning towards just selling it at the moment. I definitely don't have the cash to rebuild it and I really don't feel like acquiring anymore debt at this time. I have a 2 year old now so I have more important things to spend money than a car.
