6 speed conversion since its out anyway

Im thinking that since my car will have some downtime now anyway...since my diff exploded...should i just go with a JDM 6 speed? does this open any additional opportunities for me? Anyone have a new 6 speed for sale? does it bolt up to the 5 speed clutch flywheels etc etc?

I'd probably talk to the chaps over on LancerRegister.com they seem to been have issues (recall?) on their 6-speeds... I'd be interested to find out what the gearing is on the 6-speedsvs our 5-speeds here...

Pesto there has been super few times were the 6MT flashed in my mind the 5MT is a damn nice piece and the ratios are nothing to ***** at. Youll be pissed always having to shift that 6MT and until there are 5MT failures I am going to have to say its the stout one of the family

I agree. The reviews I've read (Top Gear) indicated that the ratio spacing on the 6MT are awkward and force some unecessary rowing.

Personally I feel that since I upgraded my torque band that the 5MT is adequate and provides plenty of elasticity. I'll see how I feel after a few track days.

I may just butcher up the engine compartment and put the engine the way it should be throw a nice automatic behind it and just let it run to the rear wheels...

well...seems no one offers a viable solution for real hp in these cars...I can eliminate the constant issues of driveline failure by putting the engine in front to back...put a sick auto or even a nice tremec 5 speed behind it...and a nice corvette pumpkin out back or jag unit...soime machien work im sure would be needed but it would be insane...

Ive thought about it...but who would buy mine? Im not sure if there is much of a market for an evo for the price id have to get to even remotely make me feel like im not getting totally screwed (there is alot of money in this car) but then again...it is fun...and Id rather make it more fun and keep it and drive it until the wheels fall off...or until something more appealing comes along...wait till u see the lotus elise im gonna get (400whp)...but seriously...what else could be as fun as an evo

Ok... Why don't you call up Shepard Racing and have him rebuilt your transmission and the rest of your driveline items. Or just go crazy and buy a ralliart dog box (AMS may still have theirs).
