HI guys,

Quick question;

at what RPM does the stock turbo exactly, kick-in?

Are you talking about full boost? It really depends on your setup. With aggressive cams itll cause lag and with porting itll help spool. Ive seen as low as 3000rpms (EVERY PART was ported top to bottom on the car) up to 3700 from my experience. Safe to say around 3500 on a typical setup

Yeah stock engine, turbo and ECU. when it first kick in…

i haven't had the car very long, but off boost from 1,500rpm - 3,500…that car feels pretty sluggish and dull

the only thing different is the 20PSI turbosmart actuator.

So im guessing 3,500RPM

usually you will start boosting around 3200rmp and 3500rmp but aftermarket parts can change those numbers and tune can also change those numbers

You can get a IX to spool the OE turbo in 3rd at 2900 if you mess with MIVEC enough. On an VIII they'll spool around 3500.

I suppose the lower it kicks in the better the driving will feel…

but for regular driving, no doubt that it will use more fuel…?

There are different XI turbo types, which type is yours? As an example the XI RS turbo is designed to spool faster, around 300-400 rpm sooner.
If the car feels sluggish/laggy then the first thing you need to check is boost leak.

Depends what RPM you floor it from, it would be very easy to load up the engine at a very low RPM. Cams are not going to change the spool up on the factory turbo.
