Cylinder wall pitting...guidance needed

Going to get more pics today. I haven't been able to stop by the shop myself so I'm relying on my mechanic for the pics.

Ughh sorry for delay. The block is out of the car here are the pics. Shiny non cross hatched areas on both front and back of cylinder walls...

reviving this thread because my valve seats are gone. How was the rehoning?

I think the thrust side is the radiator side since that's the rotation during combustion.

For a vehicle that doesn't see a lot of miles and the owner living close to the ocean, I wonder if ethanol was a good choice, ethanol being so hydrophilic.

E85 reminds me so much of brake fluid....

The bores look like it's been sitting unused for a length of time and it'as had water in the oil.
It's rust.

Why do the piston tops look like that?
Have you scrubbed them?
