Looking for the best cams for my current set up

I'm in the process of looking for some new cams, springs and retainers for my evo 7 GTA. At the moment I have FP green turbo
big fmic,
3 inch exhaust pipping with highflow cats
bigger dump pipes high flow extractors
1050 cc injectors
New fuel pump
stronger auto gearbox
Currently running 215kwatw on 24 psi
Im looking to run at around 30psi on with E85 and was wondering what would be the best cams to run with the standard ecu.

I have heard that kelford cams are very good would these work with the standard ecu http://www.extremepsi.com/store/prod...roductid=27472

I know its been asked before but i wanted to know what ones might be best for my current set up.
Thanks

Hey mate I'm running 25 psi on my ego 7, I stroked it and found that the cams out of a tf rodeo work best, sounds weird but they are light and won't break running such a high psi

Firstly, 215kwatw on your current setup, whether it's a Mustang reading dyno or Dynojet or Dynapak or whatever, is VERY low. Seriously seriously low. People are seeing close to 400-420whp on similar setups on pump gas (nearly 300-320kwatw)

I would suggest you try to find out why your car isn't making more power to begin with, whether it be a tuning issue or mechanical issue.

Secondly, I don't know what the limitations of the automatic transmission that JDM evos came with, but from what I've read in the past, they weren't very durable, something like 400-450 ft/lbs (540 - 600 Nm) IIRC. I see you added "stronger auto transmission" in your mods list, but you'll need to verify how much stronger before taking your car to hazardous powers that could be detrimental to your transmission, as with E85 30psi and a proper tune, you're bound to hit an excess of 400 ft/lbs.

Lastly, all cams work well with the stock ECU, but if you're looking for cams that sound nice with a lope and drive well, then 272 duration cams would be optimal i.e Kelford 272, GSC S2, JUN 272 etc... And get some Kiggly springs and retainers to install along.

If you aren't looking for a lopey cam, then GSC S1 or 264 duration cams would work well. They won't sacrifice spool and still give you respectful low-midrange power. 272 cams will tardy the spool a bit but give you very decent mid-high range power.

I would go with the GSC S2s with a setup like yours as you already have a quick spooling turbo and with the GSC S2s you'll gain very nice power.

S3s will be another option but they won't really shine with smaller setups such as yours.

Yeah the gearbox is rated for 550hp +
I've enquired to why the power output is low and the tuner isn't sure and was only making 159 kwatw before the e85 at 21 psi. That was at mercury Motorsports and they have a pretty good rep. they even gave it a once over and couldn't find anything obvious though he suggested that the auto could be sapping a lot of its power.
Is there much variation for springs and retainers

Transmissions are rated by torque, not horsepower. Inquire what the torque capability of the transmission is. It's like stock blocks, they can make 600+ hp if you want them to, but they won't live long above 400 ft/lbs. Same concept applies to transmissions.

Get the beehive springs and retainers as they're sufficient for what you want and you won't need to replace them further along the line.

I don't know, if they haven't found any mechanical issues with your car, then it's a tuning issue...
