I was on the fence with which clutch I wanted. It came down to a exedy stage 1 (organic) or a competition clutch stage 2 (carbon kevlar). I ended up with the Competition clutch stage 2 and so far so good. I'm still breaking it in but the engagement is smooth, no noise, and great in traffic. I thought the pedal pressure would be heavier than stock but I honestly think it's lighter! I think I would have been happy with either choice to be honest as the prices on both are comparable and reviews seem positive for both products. I'm making about 340tq and only replaced the clutch due to the stock clutch starting to slip after my camshaft upgrade. I'm not a drag racer but make occasional passes at the track, and i drive spiritedly. There's a ton of info out there just giving you my experience.

I know you stated two specific clutches, but I think you should look into the OS GIKEN brand. Hands down they are a top notch company and stand behind there products. Years of racing and development. They deliver!

The competition single stage 2 would be more than enough for that much power. I run that in my car and have had no issues, only thing I did not like is the fluid that was put in my trans when the clutch was done and I just put it back to factory fluid and it shifts like butter again. I run at auto x and open track days as well. Once in a blue moon I will drag it but have had no issues.

Thanks for sharing, but my friend had a bad experience with the twin plates clutch as 1 of the plate crack and he has just bought it no longer than 2 months with just 2-3 times hill climb run.

Just wonder, is CCI currently upgraded/further improved their Clutch Plate?

i just spoke with exedy usa. the hyper single is only good to 350 ft-lbs at the wheels. he said the stage 1 hd is a better choice for an evo (05803HD - 3600 lb clamp load). he said its rated to 472 ft-lbs at the wheels and can handle few launches. its in the same category as the comp stage 2.

Yep. The US tech guy told me that they are not bringing the Evo version of the new Hyper Single to the USA because most Evo owners in the US are making more power than the clutch can handle.
