I would suggest you to at least upgrade your rods!!! Then you can have some fun with that stock turbo

agreed^ for the sake of a few hundred, you get peace of mind with added strength and you can push the 9 turbo harder than what you'd be able to with stock rods.

I was running gsc s3 cams on my stock 9 turbo. Was making 310whp at stock boost. Bumped it up to 28psi and was making 350/350 on 91 **** gas. So S2 cams will be no issue. The competition stage 2 clutch is a great option. But I suggest you upgrade your rods since you're doing a rebuild anyways. You can get I beam rods for under 500

mods depend on what your goals are. we all have different ones, so you will get 100 different answers.

the stock 9 turbo is a GREAT upgrade and plenty if you have access to e85. at your power level, another HDSS should last forever (unless abused) and be easy to drive. cams really wake these cars off. if you are going for peak power, S2 is a really nice cam.

all just an opinion, of course.

Well I drive a porsche 993 daily for work sometimes putting up to 1200 miles weekly, bought the evo 8 to be my daily it would be less for me in maintenance on my 993 then the evo. I autocross so the evo would have dual purpose.

I need the evo to be a solid car. I know it is and fun to drive. I am trying to get up to or around 400hp but as a daily on pump gas (its a wish) . I am rebuilding the motor with stock parts. I can probably go ahead and upgrade the rods. But I am thinking about is send my turbo to turbo lab america and do a rebuild upgrade to a 20g billet with Evo 9 tdo6sl2 turbine housing and turbine upgrade with 02 housing. using gsc s2 cams with springs, I already have intake and turbo back exhaust. Tune of course.

Is this a wet dream of getting 400hp on pump cali 91 gas?

you're going to need some serious stuff to get that on 91, one of them being a large turbo which is not going to work very well for autox.

You'll be close to 400 with a 20g and s2 cams on 91 pump gas.
