It's a cone filter right? It's going to be the same as the others. The only difference is how the air enters through the filter. I have never had a problem with my maf because of a intake filter.

I just got the Apexi power intake for the evo8 and the HKS suction pipe, which I think is different than the one that comes with kit. **note the apexi intake comes with settings for the super afc II**. I will be installing the system this week. ?? has any one tried this set- up yet??

this is probably off topic, but how would one stop the stalling/running rich with the stock BOV? i basically plugged the intake pipe, and have the stock VTA, the car doesnt really stall, but it bogs when coming to a stop, what would be recommended to fix that? an SAFC or something of the sort?

its ghettofied, stock BOV VTA, and the hole in the intake pipe is plugged, my friend did this with his eclipse GSX and it ran fine, mine runs okay, but i was just wondering if theres a fix for this, because i eventually want to get an aftermarket VTA

the only fix for that is to unghettofy it, but when u go aftermarket BOV its better to get a BOV with a recirc kit option, such as the HKS SSQV and you should have no problems .

those are blow off valves not intakes. and personally i really don't no since i don't have either but RFL stand for Really ****ing Loud lol... and HKS is a great known import tuner and makes good products so i dunno and it is loud as well.

To fix the VTA BOV problem buy the HKS SAFC. IF you want a loud intake BOV set up get the Turbo XS RFL, Greddy type s or the HKS SSQV along with any open intake filter.

Let me clarify some stuff here.

Aftermarket intakes alter the MAF reading. You will get lean conditions in some spots through the powerband. The power comes from leaning your a/f mixture out which can also be extremely dangerous without properly tuning it. Everything changes when there's no MAF in the equation, though.

VTA BOV's are another NO NO for our cars. The MAF miscounts and between shifts you'll get an extremely rich condition. Again, when the MAF is gone, you don't need to worry about this, but since we do, then.. . As for the HKS AFR with the EIDS function, it is not completely proven that it will stop the car from stalling. As far as I know, it doesn't. Even if it does stop the stalling, it's not going to fixed the decreased performance you'll have.

If you want the "best of both worlds", get an aftermarket open air element intake with a recircing BOV. The GReddy Type S works really nice in our cars, also the TXs H34 (the recirc) works great as well.

In all honesty, intakes and bov's make cool noises and they're great eye candy, but why sacrifice drivability and performance just for some cool sights and sounds?

I'm half asleap so I probably forgot some stuff, it's just off the top of my head anyway

Happy tuning,
