Tell the difference between Evo 8 and 9 GSC cams

Like the title says, how do you tell the difference between Evo 8 and 9 GSC S2s?

Or, will evo 8 cams even bolt into an evo 9 head? Obviously they won't actually work, but will the bolt in?

Intake camshaft is different, it will be slightly longer and have oil grooves on the cam gear side.

Slightly longer than the exhaust cam, or slightly longer than the evo 8 intake cam? I have a set and I'm trying to figure out what they're for but I have nothing to compare them to

Intake cam has 2 oiling grooves against the cam gear. It is also drilled out for a cam sensor. The VIII intake has neither of those options.

You mean its drilled out for the cam sensor that's near the thermostat housing?

Is it possible to install the cams incorrectly on am evo? Like 180* off or something?

You are thinking of the cam angle sensor, seems like a few people post about having that 180° off. If you post pictures of the cams in question, it will be simple to determine if its for a 9.

Well the cams are installed in my car, which has a mivec head and from what I gather you couldn't even put evo 8 cams in a 9. But aside from that, I know you can be 180* off with the can angle sensor, but I thought there might be 2 dowels per cam making it so they could be 180* out. But that isn't possible since there is only 1 dowel.

So I'm not sure what's wrong with my car if it isn't the cams haha xD thinking maybe the valve stems are too long, not sure though :/

8 cams drop right in mivec head. you just have to use 8 intake gear. obviously there will be no mivec.
