Fuel cut defenders are scarry. Most experienced tuners do not recommend them and you should have a very good knowledge of your car's AFR controls before you install it. Moving to Evo tech forum.

I'm sure they do but that is not my point. The owner who slaps a fuel cut defender on his/her car should understand how the defender is defeating a safety feature. Most FCD's clamp the air signal from the MAF to a max value, which results in a lean AFR above that value.

An in-experienced owner could assume that he can now crank up the boost because that "nasty fuel cut" has be eliminated. That can and has resulted in converting piston mass from kilograms to gallons.

Please save yourself some trouble and do not put our FCD on your EVO. It is designed to work with a 0-5v MAP sensor and not the MAF sensor with the EVO.

Even if it would "work" to clamp your MAF sensor frequency, you would likly end up blowing your motor up because you would run lean anytime you got above the frequency clamp.

You should return your uninstalled FCD for a refund.

the best route to go, but a little more expensive, is getting an afc with a digital o2 guage.

you can tune your car for daily driving to get better gas mileage, and get better runs down the track. Tuning your car will make a BIG difference. tuning your car with an afc will eliminate fuel cut and the digital o2 will be for you to make sure your car is getting enough fuel. thus preventing a piston from melting.

i ran 13.2 with just a mbc, then ran 12.6 by adding a test pipe, exhaust dump, and tuning the car with an afc.

I also went from getting around 220 miles to a tank city driving to getting 290!
