from shifting from 1st to 2nd i feel a wierd popping motion.. i can hear it somewhat also.. mostly the feel though it kind of just pops itself into 2nd sometimes rather then smoothly shifting into 2nd... can anyone tell me what this feeling may be or whats causing it?

I have the same thing! I have noticed it too. I figure its the bushings and or synchromesh. If I am careful in the shift and make sure my foot is all the way down, it seems to not be an issue however.

 

While I can't answer your question technically, I can tell you that it's a common complaint amongst Evo owners.

A set of underhood shifter bushings (Metal or Poly) and BG Synchroshift or GM Synchromesh have greatly improved the shift quality according to many owners.

 

hmm so then this isnt exactly a big problem just something that can be made better so to say
