IX Evo Mr Transmission replacement?
I'm currently considering purchasing the mentioned car in the title thats for sale in my area, a big problem with it though is that the 6th gear is locked out so only 1-5 work and it has 96k miles on it, just bolt ons and stock turbo... how much driveable is the car without the 6th gear and how much would the fix cost?

Is it locked out of 6th sitting still, or only when driving?

I recommend getting a car with no problems. Trust me: it's no fun having a project right off the bat and swapping transmissions is a pain in the ***.
Unless you have a daily and this is a car for fun. Then no big deal, if you can get a serious deal to justify the work you have to put into it.

The highest offer he's supposedly recieved is 18k for it, If it's driveable as a daily car then I'll just switch the transmission later on but if not whats a reasonable price for it? and arent transmissions less than 2 grand?

I usually score 6spds for $300-500. Don't forget the pricey fluids needed for install.
5spds are around $1000 plus the necessary hardware to swap.
labor is what you feel your time is worth.
then there is the price for a clutch because it would be silly not to...plus cost of resurfacing the flywheel. At Least do the TOB.
there may be seals, gaskets, and washers to replace.
it all adds up.

So at the current price of 18k it's not worth it? What would be an ideal price if lets say all those replacements would have to be done.

Honestly, that's up to you. I paid $17,000 for a 2006 Mr with 115000 miles on it LOL I'm not the best person to ask what someone should pay for a car.
it's worth what you think it's worth and are willing to pay.
that and I know nothing about the car you looking to purchase lol

I would say it might be worth it if it's in nice shape and other than the trans issues, is exactly what you want in an Evo. You didn't share any details on the car though.

I was thinking maybe the car was really nice other than the transmission issue, but it doesn't look like it was well taken care of. Not sure of a fair price but I know from what I've seen, silver cars don't sell for as much as other colors when it comes to the evo.
