Double Pumper question

Double Pumper question
Hopefully this isn't a noob question but I have a double pumper in the car.. don't need the second pump so it's just capped and not wired up. Let's say the pump that's currently running the car is taking a ****. It's got a pretty loud whine as of recently and I haven't got around to testing the voltage and what not. Can I just swap the pump I'm not using over to my main pump? Essiantly have a back up pump to use if my main ever took a ****? Again I hope it's not a noob question lol. Thanks!
