On pump gas, cams and an intercooler produce good gains (my car gained 50whp). On E85, it's negligible, 10-12whp, and you'll get better $/hp from a 71hta.

Yea... Imma stay on 93, theres no E85 places near me I've heard that upgrading your intercooler on a stock turbo (8 and 9) wouldn't gain that much HP.... Would you recommend possibly getting like a 3 or 3.5 inch core intercooler aswell as a 9 turbo?

If future power goals are <500, a 3" is fine. 500-800 should run a 3.5.


I can't speak to gains from the intercooler alone because I did cams and intercooler together.

Did you upgrade your injectors at all after the cam swap?

My car had RC engineering 1000cc injectors from being tuned on E85 with the Evo 9 prior to doing the cams and intercooler. The 1000cc injectors were still plenty of fuel with a walbro 255 with the Evo 9 turbo, cams, and intercooler. I didn't upgrade to the 1650's until I put the Red on.

I have RC1200cc with upgraded evo 9 turbo and s2 cams, plenty of fuel on 91 and e85

If I get the GSC S1 cams, would I need to upgrade the injectors or can I just use the stock 560cc injectors?

Idk, never really tuned my car with the stock injectors.

My first Evo 8 was tuned with stock injectors and S1 cams. I made 314/320 on a dynapack dyno, I was previously tuned before I put evo 9 turbo and s1 cams, the cams helped up the HP and hold that HP at higher RPM, so forsure you can do it and it would be a positive outcome
