Thumbs down Time for a new clutch

Last week I spent $2000 in mods for my car (including install) and I now how to get a new clutch . Mine is starting to slip really bad. I was planning to get a new one anyways in about six months. Just not now after I spent all that money on my car. It's my own fault so I have no one to blame but myself. Right now I'm looking at getting either the WORKS Clutch Kit CK1 or the ACT HD Street Disc kit. Unfortunately those are the only clutch kits that I now off, that are in my price range right now. Does anyone know of any other clutch kits that are pretty good that are in or about the same price range?

Look into the RRE No-Name clutch (X-Clutch).

What would you say your price range is? I burnt my clutch out too, but fortunately I was in the middle of saving up for mods and was able to use the money on my clutch. I got an Exedy twin plate through a friend at a great price ($1150 it's normally over $1300 discounted). I know it's still expensive, but the exedy clutches also come with a lightweight flywheel.

Well, I just spent 2k on mods for my car. So I don't have as much as I would like for a new clutch. Plus, I know that it's going to be an arm and a leg for the install. So I have to put that into consideration for what kind of clutch kit I get. My price range is between $500 and $700. Which I'm not happy about because I wanted to get an Exedy twin plate and now I have to settle for something else. Thats what i get for driving like a knuckle head I guess...

Yeah, a bad clutch can get pretty pricey. Most shops charge between 400-550 for install. Plus add a few more bucks if you throw in 3 qts of synthetic gear fluid and maybe a SS clutch line and install.

Take it easy on the car, and save up for the Exedy Twin. (both Buschur and Vishnu use it)

The ACT, I heard from a reputable source, will not last you that long, and the WORKS twin plate is still in development.

I'm in a similar situation; but just baby the car till I can get the Exedy...Oh well

It sucks having all that power and having to use restraint

Unfortunately, I have to get a new clutch like a.s.a.p because it's slipping really bad. It's practically free rev'in while I'm in gear!

after reading this, this sounds like pretty good deal. Since alot of us are having issues with t-cases, the dealership wont be so quick to not cover the t-case if they cant really notice the cluth setup.

i def. might go this route.

It's practically free rev'in while I'm in gear! I press on the gas on the only thing that happens is the rpms. It takes me forever to get any acceleration.

I brought my car into Mitsubishi and they looked at my clutch. They said that it was burned out. I asked if it could be fixed under warrenty and they asked me how many miles were on the car. I told them 13,000 and they said no because the warrenty for the clutch was only good for 12,000 . Other wise it would have been covered by warrenty. They told me they would replace it for $1300. So when I get paid I'm gonna pay the $1300 and not drive all crazy anymore (lesson learned)...

I feel your pain. But $1300 is a little too high, that's like $800 labor. Since your in San Jose, call up some local shops like Gruppe-S or others near by and see if they could hook you up with a clutch and install. I'm pretty sure it's going to be lot less the what dealer charges plus you'll get a stronger clutch which should last you more than 13K miles. Just make sure you break it in before driving hard.
Good luck
