Are GSC S1s a good choice?

Hey everybody!

so I am in the market for some new cams and I'm not sure what to get.. Gsc S1s or Gsc s2s? I would like to make around 350whp (of course with other mods), but with the stock 8.5 turbo and stock block and as cheaply as possible. Is it achievable with S1s? Its nice how you can use stock valve Springs with Gsc S1s, which makes the overall cost cheaper, but I do not think the Gsc S1s will make as much Hp as the s2s. I also like how the Gsc S1s focus on lower rpm up, which is better for autox and as a street car, but on track days, the Gsc s2s are much better.. I am leaning towards the Gsc S1s, but need ya'lls help to make the final decision.

If you have either or have any advice, please comment below, anything is well appreciated! Thanks!

s2's you will be fine with stock springs/retainers up to stock redline. but just do it while you are there anyway. from stock to my kelford 272's it made big difference in power all over. spool loss on a stock turbo will not be noticed on butt dyno.

It is not recommended to do this because the lift is much more aggressive.

If you do more auto X the s1s will be more friendly just as you said, I guess it really depends on what you will be doing with the car. I have had both and I really like the s2

I have GSC S1 and it makes a noticeable difference in the mid-range. My turbo is a BBK lite journal bearing if it makes any difference. If your future goals involve a turbo upgrade I'd go for the S2s.

Whether you get GSC S1's or S2's, you should do valve springs. That way you can rev to 8k, and never worry about valve float, which can happen as the OEM valve springs get up their in mileage.

For easy button, I would do an FP 71hta turbo upgrade. Will make 350whp no problem, and much less expensive to purchase and install than cams.

Go with the S1s. If the springs are old you should replace them

You dont need to take unnecessary risk with valve springs and retainers.
Install S1s with valve springs & retainers and drive tension free.
