Clutch Slipping?
Clutch Slipping?
last week my car started to rev up at high rpms. Example: second gear pull release the gas pedal, depress clutch pedal all the way, car revs up for a second then revs back down like normal. Is this because my clutch is slipping? or could it be anything else. I have tried the low revs accel, and no slip there.
Yeah, your clutch is slipping. I don't know about the clutch hair, I think it would depend on the facing material. All, I ever seem to get is black dust.
I ran my DSM quite awhile this way (too long - it chewed up the flywheel). I rather liked it, it was like having an automatic that down shifted.

what do you mean "revs up for a second then revs back down like normal"?
do you rev to 7000 and gas off / clutch in and the car hangs at 7000 for a second then drops?
do you rev to 7000 and gas off / clutch in and the car revs to 7500 for a second then drops?
nothing you're describing is a slipping clutch. if you want to know if your clutch is slipping sit at 45mph in 4th and get on it. or 55 in 5th and get on it. anything that will load up the drivetrain in 4th / 5th gear will tell you right away if the clutch is slipping or not.
